Umbrella Swivel Cutting Jig
Ok I finally got enough time to actually building theUmbrella Swivel Project (see my other models) and the hardest part was cutting the square pegs from the round wood dowels of the umbrella. I cut he umbrella shaft off, took it into my garage and starting cutting it by hand. It turned out ok but in doing the umbrella end, it was more difficult to do a good job. Hence this jig to help guide the saw blade to make a near perfect cut. I used a power saws-all and the jig has about a 0.01″ clearance(0.050″ thick blade). The jig cuts the square end with a slight tapper for a really nice tight fit. I picked up some 2600 PSI epoxy and just filled the swivel end (at assembly) to fill any gaps and help make the part stronger. Happy Patio Time!
