We have a winner of our M3D Micro 3D Printer competition!
M3D’s Micro 3D printer was an unprecedented success on Kickstarter last year, raising more than $3.4 million from almost 12,000 backers. So it made lots of sense that when we were looking to partner with a 3D Printer company for a competition, M3D was the obvious choice! The Micro is intended to be a plug and play 3D printer, so simple, useful designs were the aim for this competition. We wanted to see the best designs that are both simple and fast to print. We looked at usefulness, stylishness, and general creativity when crowning a winner.
All of the entrants are tagged with the term ‘Micro’ and you can see all of them here.
We are happy to announce that the winner, as voted for by the team at 3DShare, 3DPrint.com and M3D is user Tuto Solid, with their Rabbit Necklace!
The judges loved what an interesting talking piece this could be and the fact that 3D printing beginners could easily make one, while the intricacy is enough to impress the most advanced printers!
Speed and simplicity were key here, as this is what the Micro has become famous for. Some incredible designs demonstrated once again, the out of the box thinking of 3D designers, particularly those using 3DShare – but were deemed a little too, or required too many specific filaments to win the simplicity aspect.
And to the winner, the spoils – Tuto Solid will receive the following:
- A Micro Printer in their choice of black, blue, green, or orange
- The Winner’s Design will be featured on 3DPrint.com
- The Winner’s design will be entered into our annual ‘Design of the Year’ award
The judges were really impressed with the high standard of design and levels of creativity. Also highly commended were this super useful Pill Box and this Multi Purpose Instant Pot! As mentioned above, by winning, Tuto Solid is automatically entered into our annual contest which will give designers the chance to win one of all of our design prizes!
